Overview
Victoria Falls sits within reach of three distinct safari options. Zambezi National Park is essentially walking distance from town — the easiest option, good for a half-day. Hwange National Park, Zimbabwe's largest reserve, is about 1.5–2 hours away and offers the widest variety of game. Chobe National Park in Botswana, reached via the Kazungula border (covered by the KAZA UNIVISA), is famous for its elephant population and river cruise combination.
What to expect
Zambezi National Park
The closest option — a half-day game drive without a long transfer, good if time is tight.
Hwange National Park
Zimbabwe's flagship reserve; a full-day trip covers a fraction of it, so consider an overnight stay if wildlife is a priority.
Chobe, Botswana
A cross-border day trip combining a game drive and a river cruise — see our border crossing guide for details.
Good to know
- Dry season (June–September) gives the best game viewing as animals concentrate around water sources
- A 4x4 is recommended for Hwange's game-viewing tracks
- Chobe day trips use your existing KAZA UNIVISA — no extra visa needed
- Transport for any of these can be arranged self-drive or chauffeured
